Timberwolves Transformer: Jordan McLaughlin is more than meets the eye

The Minnesota Timberwolves certainly have gotten a lot of press coverage for the team’s new and somewhat controversial frontcourt. But so far, much of the coverage has been focused on starting center Rudy Gobert and starting power forward Karl-Anthony Towns. And to a lesser extent, the remaining starting five: Point guard D’Angelo Russell, shooting guard Anthony Edwards, and small forward Jaden McDaniels.
If the story ended there, the Timberwolves would not be in a favorable position to improve upon last season’s 46-36 record. But there is, as the Hasbro commercial for Transformers once jingled, more than meets the eye to the Timberwolves this season.
McLaughlin is the Timberwolves’ secret weapon
One such player who is more than what you see on the surface is Timberwolves backup point guard Jordan McLaughlin, who is one of the team’s best-kept secrets:
That’s pretty impressive, right?
Well, the Timberwolves had the luxury of a surplus of talent in the backcourt in the 2021-22 NBA season. As a result, the team could remain especially patient with young players who showed the potential for significant upside. Jordan McLaughlin is one such player.
