Gobert going to help too
We’d talked about the alley-oop impact of Rudy Gobert on the Timberwolves’ offensive arsenal. We talked about how that would benefit D’Angelo Russell. However, the greater benefit maybe with the steady play of McLaughlin.
Let’s talk this one out. McLaughlin has nasty ball skills and can dribble and distribute the basketball well enough to test all but the best NBA defenses. Standing just 5-foot-11 does create some challenges for the guy, as he has limits to his ability to drive to the basket and make points on layups.
McLaughlin lobbin’
Now? A well-placed lob pass does that one better. And what does Jordan McLaughlin think about getting the alley-oop installed as an option in the Timberwolves’ weapons?
With Gobert, the Timberwolves will certainly feature the lob pass. But it won’t end with Gobert, as it will likely involve Naz Reid, Luka Garza, and a host of the other bigs on the roster.
Jordan McLaughlin may not have gotten much press, but he has most certainly gotten much better. He is the Timberwolves Transformer, as he has more than meets the eye. And even conservatively, he should flirt with leading the team in assists, as well as getting close to double-digit scoring this season.
