The Minnesota Timberwolves are fighting the battle to remain above-.500 in the early going of the 2022-23 NBA Season. If you haven’t begun to question the wisdom of this team’s interest in trading for center Rudy Gobert at the expense of five players and five valued NBA Draft picks, then consider yourself among the most adamant Timberwolves fans.

The road this season was never expected to be smooth sailing. But an off-season illness that afflicted center/power forward Karl-Anthony Towns and knee soreness that impacted center Rudy Gobert truly has this team trying to build experience during the season that many expected would happen before the season ever began.

Still, the Timberwolves have already claimed their fourth win, a feat that needed 11 games to accomplish during the 2021-22 NBA season. If the Timberwolves win their fifth game of the season, this time as the Timberwolves host the Milwaukee Bucks, the team will hit a milestone that necessitated 14 games to accomplish last year.

But it won’t be easy to win this one.

Tipoff Time

This game will be played at Target Center, home of the Minnesota Timberwolves, with the tipoff time scheduled for Friday, November 4, 2022, at 9:00 pm CT.

Timberwolves Injury Report vs Bucks Game 9

Ahead of the game, the Minnesota Timberwolves released an update on their roster:
So how have both teams summed their roster status?

Timberwolves

  • C Luka Garza (Two-Way Contract) – OUT
  • SG Wendell Moore Jr. – (G-League) – OUT
  • PF Josh Minott – (G-League) – OUT
  • SG Anthony Edwards (Illness) – Questionable
  • C Rudy Gobert (Illness) – Questionable

Bucks

  • SG Pat Connaughton (right calf strain) – OUT
  • SG Joe Ingles (left ACL surgery)- OUT
  • PF Sandro Mamukelashvili (concussion evaluation)- OUT
  • SF Khris Middleton (left wrist ligament surgery) – OUT
  • G AJ Green (nasal fracture) – OUT
  • PF Giannis Antetokounmpo (left knee soreness) – Probable

While the Timberwolves need this win, they could struggle in this one, as both SG Anthony Edwards and C Rudy Gobert have been fighting flu-like symptoms. If the Timberwolves cannot start either player, the team will face tremendous odds of defeating the Milwaukee Bucks, a team that has won seven consecutive games to start the 2022-23 NBA Season.

Of course, the Bucks have had a very favorable schedule so far, as the best team they’d faced, the Philadelphia 76ers (4-4) was decided by just two points.

The Timberwolves may not have any single player on the roster who is as hot as the Milwaukee Bucks PF Giannis Antetokounmpo, but a solid game from Karl-Anthony Towns (offensively) and Jaden McDaniels (defensively) can go a very long way in this one.

Recommended Bets:

This is a great test for the Minnesota Timberwolves, and if not for question marks over the ability of either Anthony Edwards or Rudy Gobert, I may be inclined to choose the underdog Timberwolves at home to upset the applecart of the undefeated Bucks. But I just can’t for this one.

However, the Over/Under is set at a curious 229 points. Out of 15 games combined for the Timberwolves or Bucks, only five games have exceeded that combined score. The Bucks are winning this season on defense, and the Timberwolves’ offense is not tuned-up enough to overcome a team that can play a smothering defense.

The Timberwolves do match up very well in the fact that the Bucks do not shoot well from the perimeter, an area that the Timberwolves have struggled to defend so far. Still, the Bucks are hot and the Timberwolves are not.

Take the Bucks on the Money Line (-153) to win
Take the Under – 228.0 points (-107)
