Reason IV: Too soon to bail

While uncertainty is never comfortable, the newness of the Minnesota Timberwolves is fading with each passing game. This is a Timberwolves team that has played just 15 games, but they have already earned their seventh win. A year ago, they did not earn their seventh win until their 16th game, so the Timberwolves are slightly ahead of schedule.

Keep in mind that this team not only has to refamiliarize themselves with one another but has had to do so on the job as the team only had one preseason game to play together as a team. That means that the miscommunications, mistakes and missed opportunities as this team tries to build chemistry did not happen at practice but are developing in plain sight of Minnesota Timberwolves fans.

While that may not be familiar to fans who have become accustomed to viewing a team that has had plenty of time to work out the bugs at practice, it’s not unusual at all. In fact, it’s pretty healthy.

New faces taking time for proper introductions

The Minnesota Timberwolves not only have a lot of new faces running around, but those players are significantly talented. That means that there is far more to communicate and figure out in order to optimize this roster, and the Timberwolves have been trying to do so for over a month.

Thankfully, the past two games suggest that real progress is being made. So now that there are positive developments, what does that say about a team if the Timberwolves suddenly abandon their plans this soon in the new season? At the least, it would set the team’s efforts back several years. At its worst, it would shorten the relationship of President Tim Connelly with the Minnesota Timberwolves to just one to two years. And since this plan fits the design of head coach Chris Finch, the Timberwolves would almost certainly seek a new head coach at the end of the season.
