2. Miami Heat

Another team that has performed differently than expected in the 2022-23 season thus far is the Miami Heat. While they were hoping to build off their 53-29 record and Eastern Conference Finals appearance in 2022, the Heat have taken a step back, and are currently barely hanging on to a play-in spot in the standings.

After a season where they came one Jimmy Butler shot away from a trip to the NBA Finals, it has been a disappointing campaign in Miami to say the least.

Part of this has been due to the sluggish play of Kyle Lowry. While he clearly took a step back last year in his first season in Miami, he’s arguably been an even tougher watch this year.

For the Heat to return to the level of Eastern Conference contender, Pat Riley could look at moving Lowry to gain more steady production at point guard. It would be well worth his while to add D’Angelo Russell to Miami’s rotation.

The Heat own three first round picks in the next four drafts, so the Timberwolves could potentially get back a first-rounder from Miami if they play their cards right. And if Minnesota were to get Kyle Lowry back in a deal, they could flip him again for additional assets.
