3. Utah Jazz

Ironically, the Utah Jazz are a team the Minnesota Timberwolves could be in trade talks with yet again in the near future. After the monster offseason trade that saw Rudy Gobert depart from Salt Lake City, Danny Ainge and company may want to look at taking on D’Angelo Russell from the Wolves.

For Utah, this is likely not a move they would have considered making before the season started. After trading away their two star players, they were expected to be a bottom feeder in the Western Conference and be competing for the top pick in the NBA Draft next summer.

But given their exceptional start to the season, the Jazz are looking more like a playoff hopeful than a team that will end up in the top five in the lottery. As such, they may want to bolster their rotation with a younger, solid point guard.

Mike Conley is getting older, and he has missed time already this season. With Conley entering the twilight of his career, he may not be the long-term solution in Utah. Adding D’Angelo Russell would give the Jazz a floor general that will be around for years to come.

Timberwolves fans should not be surprised if Danny Ainge makes the call to Tim Connelly about D’Angelo Russell before the season is over.
