Can Matt Ryan answer these 3 Minnesota Timberwolves prayers?
By Bret Stuter
I – Please give this team a dependable perimeter shooter
The Minnesota Timberwolves roster is not bursting with perimeter shooters. Right now, the team’s best perimeter shooters are injured, and while expected to return in a week or two, this team needs offense in the meantime.
Yes, the team can count on points from G Jaylen Nowell or C Naz Reid off the bench, but they do most of their damage in the paint. Guards Austin Rivers, and Bryn Forbes, two veterans added to the Timberwolves roster in the hopes of giving the team some long-range sharpshooters, have been shooting blanks from beyond the arc.
Timberwolves Free Agency signed a perimeter shooter
Perimeter shooting can go a very long way to helping the Minnesota Timberwolves roster now and into the foreseeable future. Right now, the Timberwolves must hope beyond hope that their opponent does not get hot at dropping treys on them. The team has not developed a dependable perimeter defense, and the Timberwolves roster has too many of their own three-point shooters injured to win in an impromptu shoot-out.
Well, unless they get some playing time to a guy who has hit on one of two three-point shots already for the Minnesota Timberwolves. In truth, the Timberwolves Free agency signing of Matt Ryan to a Two-Way contract is almost entirely due to his promising perimeter shooting.
The only way for the Minnesota Timberwolves to determine if Matt Ryan is a dependable perimeter shooter is to increase his minutes and observe how well he handles the increased workload. He may not show a steady increase in scoring, but right now the Timberwolves have few other options. Are prayers answered in modern times? If you don’t like that wording, how about the power of positive thinking? In any case, the Timberwolves are in need of a miracle. And the answer to this team’s prayers may be the newest Timberwolves free agency signing, Matt Ryan.
