Timberwolves should only trade Karl-Anthony Towns for these 2 players
By Will Eudy
1. Anthony Davis
The Los Angeles Lakers’ featured big man has returned to All-Star form this season. While Anthony Davis is a perennial force in the frontcourt and a player with a very well-rounded game overall, he was not selected as an All-Star last year for the first time since his rookie season.
He is currently making big strides toward correcting that this season. Davis is averaging his most points per game since the 2017-18 season at 27.7, to go along with a career-high 12.4 rebounds per contest. He has been an unstoppable force for a Lakers team that desperately needs him to be.
As Los Angeles struggles to stay afloat, Davis has been the biggest driving force behind their 11 victories, and it is not particularly close. Less than two weeks ago, he logged 55 and 44-point games back-to-back, helping the Lakers earn consecutive victories for just the second time this season. He has been on an all-time tear in his eleventh professional season.
That is why Davis is one of the few players the Timberwolves should be willing to part with Karl-Anthony Towns for. Towns is an extremely versatile and unique talent, so giving him up would have to net Minnesota an equally impactful player like Anthony Davis.
It was not too long ago that Timberwolves fans would have scoffed at the idea of trading Davis for Towns, given Davis’ lengthy injury history. But if Minnesota is looking to move on from Towns, they would be wise to make a deal for Anthony Davis. With him currently performing at an MVP level, it would give the Timberwolves an instant and significant boost to their title hopes.
