NBA trade rumors are heating up. As December 15th hits the calendar, players who signed new contracts in the offseason will officially become eligible to be traded to a new team. There is no doubt the Minnesota Timberwolves are keeping their eyes and ears peeled for any opportunities to take advantage of.

With the Timberwolves currently on the outside of the playoff picture looking in, they will in all likelihood be looking to move pieces around and improve their roster in the short-term. There are not many players on the roster that will be off-limits.

One name that has been mentioned in recent rumors is sure to catch Minnesota’s ear. Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer reported on Wednesday that one former Timberwolves player would be open to a return to Minnesota if the situation presented itself: Patrick Beverley.

Patrick Beverley may return to the Timberwolves if he is traded and bought out

One of the most beloved players among the Timberwolves fanbase in recent memory, Pat Bev told sources that he would have a desire to return to the Twin Cities if the Los Angeles Lakers were to trade him to a non-contending team.

It would make sense if the Lakers decided to move on from Patrick Beverley. His play style is simply not maximized with the group currently around him, and Los Angeles has already been rumored to be shopping him.

If Beverley ends up getting shipped to a non-contending team, a buyout would seem inevitable, opening the door for the Timberwolves to make a move for him. Bringing Pat Bev back to Minnesota would be a dream come true for the fanbase, but it would also no doubt excite Beverley.

A fiery and passionate player, Patrick Beverley prides himself on winning. His gritty attitude was a big part of what made the Timberwolves such a tough and spirited group in 2021-22. He has previously expressed gratitude for his time in Minnesota, so bringing him back would seem like a no-brainer. Not to mention, Beverley has never missed the postseason in his career, and that is a streak he would certainly like to keep alive.
