2. Mikal Bridges

Part of the 2018 NBA Draft class, Mikal Bridges has grown into one of the more valuable role players in the entire league. His skills as an on-ball stopper are invaluable, and he frequently picks up the assignment of guarding the opposing team’s best scorer.

But at the end of the day, that’s all Bridges truly is — a role player. The fact that he has a fluid offensive game with a smooth jump shot has garnered him some comparisons to a young Kawhi Leonard, but do not be fooled. Bridges will never become the type of offensive star Anthony Edwards is, let alone an all-time talent like Leonard.

Bridges, while truly a special and talented player, has certainly benefitted from playing for Monty Williams and within the Phoenix Suns’ elite offensive system. With Chris Paul at his side for the last two-plus seasons, it is no wonder he has developed so quickly.

Mikal is one of a few players that The Ringer appeared to list ahead of Anthony Edwards because of defensive ability. While most NBA fans would be more quick to label Bridges as a defensive specialist than Edwards, Ant’s two-way skills are on the rise, evidenced by his 1.9 steals per game this season.

This one is close, but Edwards’ dynamic creation abilities offensively should have pushed him ahead of the likes of Mikal Bridges.
