There is a vast difference of opinion from the Minnesota Timberwolves fanbase over two of their core players this season: PF/C Karl Anthony Towns and PG D’Angelo Russell. Curiously, the two players are quite good friends off the basketball court. On the basketball court, the pair combined to become 40 percent, two-fifths, of the Minnesota Timberwolves’ starting lineup.
There is a complementary blend between the two starters in the Minnesota Timberwolves. While the media has focused almost exclusively on the front court, and for obvious reasons, the blockbuster trade that has resulted in All-Star center Rudy Gobert teaming up with All-Star power forward/center Karl-Anthony Towns, something else has happened that has transformed the Timberwolves roster and the starting backcourt as well.

D’Angelo Russell has been one of the consistent players as the Timberwolves roster struggles with injuries. And he plays well for the Timberwolves, despite the level of anger and discontent with him so far this season.
Timberwolves rumors that I have seen and read so far this season have been rather informal, and all share the same common thread. Another NBA team is showing interest in trading for D’Angelo Russell, and then the offer is ignored altogether, or priced to compensate the Timberwolves as though shedding Russell is what the Minnesota Timberwolves want as well. I don’t believe that is the case, and here are three reasons why:
