It has been a season marred by injuries for the Minnesota Timberwolves. With Rudy Gobert, Karl-Anthony Towns, D’Angelo Russell, Jordan McLaughlin, Kyle Anderson, and others all missing significant time, the Wolves have understandably had a hard time finding consistency.

Over the last month-plus, one of the less talked about injuries that has affected Minnesota’s on-court performance is Taurean Prince’s shoulder ailment. Prince last suited up for the Wolves on November 23rd, and he was averaging 7.9 points and 2.5 rebounds on 49.5 percent shooting from the field before going down.

Timberwolves fans had been waiting to find out when Taurean Prince would return to the floor and give Minnesota some much needed depth on the wing. Fortunately, they finally got an answer on Wednesday afternoon.

Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted an update on Taurean Prince’s injury Wednesday afternoon

After six weeks of Prince sitting on the bench, Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted an injury update earlier this afternoon, announcing that Prince would officially return to the court for the Timberwolves’ home matchup with the Portland Trail Blazers Wednesday evening.

This is big news for a squad that has been so decimated by bad injury luck all season long. Getting Prince back in the rotation will allow for more lineup flexibility from Chris Finch, and will give them another capable rebounder to help the Wolves improve their nagging rebounding problems.

In addition, Prince’s efficient shooting will hopefully be a spark for the Timberwolves’ offense off the bench. With Karl-Anthony Towns still sidelined, Prince’s presence will be no small factor for Minnesota going forward.

Getting Taurean Prince back on the court will not make quite the difference that getting Towns back will, but it is an improvement on what had been a desolate injury situation for this team.
