The rumors of D’Angelo Russell being in his last days in a Minnesota Timberwolves uniform are growing louder. As the NBA trade deadline approaches, more signs are pointing to the possibility that the Wolves may be looking to offload their starting point guard.

If you have been following this Minnesota team, these rumors should not come as a shock. Timberwolves fans have been floating the idea of upgrading at point guard since Russell’s subpar performance in the first round of the playoffs against the Memphis Grizzlies last April.

With D’Angelo’s up-and-down play this season, it has been all the more reason for the Timberwolves to consider finding a trade for their floor general if the opportunity presents itself. Recently, D-Lo’s social media activity has been even more evidence that a trade could be imminent.

D’Angelo Russell’s recent social media activity has been indicative of a trade

On Thursday, several Timberwolves fans on Twitter started noticing a bizarre action had been taken by D’Angelo Russell on Instagram: he had unfollowed the Minnesota Timberwolves’ official Instagram account. The classic case of a player on the trading block unfollowing their current team on social media had struck once again.

Of course, this could be a totally innocuous move by Russell. Players follow and unfollow different accounts constantly just like fans. And sometimes, a player that knows he is being mentioned in trade rumors may make a move like this just to stir the pot a little.

But on the other hand, it does seem much more likely that this means a trade is in the works. Given the timing, Russell unfollowing the Wolves’ Instagram account while rumors of him being on the move have been increasing steadily does not bode well for his chances of remaining in Minnesota.

If the Timberwolves do ultimately trade away D’Angelo Russell, we can look back on this as the moment he knew his days in the Twin Cities were numbered.
