The Minnesota Timberwolves may not be the winningest team in the NBA right now. But you cannot ignore the fact that the player who is the most vital to the Minnesota Timberwolves roster is shooting guard Anthony Edwards. Edwards is not just putting up career numbers, but he’s doing so despite the absence of Karl-Anthony Towns. And he led the Timberwolves to a 28-26 record after 54 games.
You might think that would be enough to get a not to the NBA All-Star roster. But, you would be wrong:
2022-23 NBA West All-Star reserves: Ja Morant, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Damian Lillard, Jaren Jackson Jr., Domantas Sabonis, Lauri Markkanen, Paul George.

If you noticed, there is no Anthony Edwards mentioned among the names of 2022-23 NBA West All-Star reserves. And that’s, well, a huge snub:

His teammates noticed:
This gotta be a joke.
— Karl-Anthony Towns (@KarlTowns) February 3, 2023
Other folks did notice, and they were quick to point out the lack of logic and rationalization in the decision-making process. Anthony Edwards put up incredible numbers this season, but lesser players got the nod:
I don’t understand why coaches selected Paul George over De’Aaron Fox or Anthony Edwards for an All-Star reserve spot. Fox and Edwards have posted better numbers and they’re the engine of their teams.

Twitter reactions were varied. Some just calmly questioned the decision to exclude Anthony Edwards:

Some simply pointed out the fact that Anthony Edwards was snubbed:

Western Conference SNUBS
- Devin Booker
- Anthony Davis
- Anthony Edwards
- De'Aaron Fox
- Aaron Gordon
- Kawhi Leonard
While others were a bit more emotional and were more than happy to let the Twitter universe know it:
NBA All Star Game rosters should be expanded to 14 or 15 per conference.

No Gordon, no Edwards, no Fox and no Brunson are BS this year! pic.twitter.com/pVx1mtECWB
While others simply asked the question if Anthony Edwards was snubbed:
Do YOU think Anthony Edwards is an All-Star snub? pic.twitter.com/YJzfEuenlt

And there were others who simply asked who was the biggest snub:
Who's the biggest All-Star snub from the Western Conference? 🤔

- Kawhi Leonard

Snub? Perhaps. A snub that borders on disrespect. The Minnesota Timberwolves know the value of Anthony Edwards and will ride his production the rest of the way.
