Will the Minnesota Timberwolves make any more roster moves? Perhaps. After all, the NBA has a nearly exclusive hold on one of the most intriguing manners of redistributing NBA veteran players to jump off the roster of struggling teams for a chance to sign on with an NBA contender. That happens in a process known as the NBA Buyout Market.

It is the last chapter of roster building that NBA teams now have, and it involves the agreed-upon arrangement by which the original team and the player agree on a compensation point that will result in that player becoming an NBA Free Agent. The team wins because that buyout is typically a discounted price of the original contract. The player wins because he gets cash up front, can sign a new contract with a contender, and can land on an NBA Playoff team in hopes of winning the championship.

Unlike NBA Free Agency, the most successful teams have leverage, and can cherry-pick from among the new pool of NBA veterans who would love to land on a playoff-bound team.
