Is Kevin Durant playing tonight? Latest injury update for Timberwolves vs Suns
By Will Eudy
Wednesday evening marks yet another pivotal game as the Minnesota Timberwolves approach the end of the regular season. Heading to Phoenix, the Wolves can even their season series with the Suns 2-2 and have the chance to own the tiebreaker over them by season’s end.
There are just six games remaining on the schedule for Minnesota before the playoffs and play-in begin. Having Karl-Anthony Towns back on the court has been huge for the Wolves, and should continue to give them an edge against top teams like Phoenix.
On the Suns’ side of things, Kevin Durant has been absent since March 8 after suffering an ankle sprain in pregame warmups. His availability will be a major factor in determining how likely the Timberwolves are to depart from Phoenix with a win.
Kevin Durant injury status tonight vs Timberwolves:
After missing the last 10 games in a row with a sprained ankle, Kevin Durant is expected to play when the Suns tip off with the Timberwolves on Wednesday. Barring any setbacks in warmups, it will be just the fourth game in a Phoenix uniform for Durant.
Through his first three games with the franchise pre-injury, KD was averaging 26.7 points while shooting off the charts at 69% from the floor. Though his numbers remain impressive, Durant will have just seven regular season games to get acclimated with his Suns teammates before the playoffs begin.
Kevin Durant injury history:
Kevin Durant is not a player that many would consider injury prone, but he has had his share of unfortunate luck over the years. In January, he suffered an MCL sprain in his right knee that sidelined him for nearly two months until his Suns debut earlier this month.
This came one year after spraining the MCL in his left knee in January 2022. Prior to that, Durant missed the entire 2019-20 season due to a ruptured Achilles tendon that occurred in the 2019 NBA Finals. After a mostly clean bill of health to begin his career, injuries have unfortunately become more and more frequent for KD.
Full Suns injury report vs Timberwolves:
Durant is currently the only player listed on the Suns’ injury report. Assuming KD takes the floor, Phoenix will be at full strength when they face off with Minnesota.
Full Timberwolves injury report vs Suns:
Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards are both listed as probable for the Timberwolves on Wednesday. Towns rested in Monday’s contest at Sacramento as a precaution, and should be back in the starting lineup for this one.
Jaylen Nowell and Taurean Prince are both questionable, with Nowell still dealing with left knee tendinopathy and Prince still dealing with the same illness that kept him out on Monday. Matt Ryan, also suffering from an illness, is listed as out.
