Reason II: The KAT has landed on his feet

Minnesota Timberwolves Karl-Anthony Towns has been the driving force for the team for many years. That has been both a blessing and a curse for the Timberwolves, as he has often made the team too good to land the top pick in the NBA Draft, and yet he was not enough to propel this team to win consistently.

The Timberwolves caught a lucky break by drafting shooting guard Anthony Edwards, who has all the makings of an elite NBA player someday. And the team has the benefit of playing one of the best defenders in the NBA in small forward Jaden McDaniels. Finally, the team went out and traded a huge package of players and picks to acquire center Rudy Gobert, specifically to take some of the pressure off Towns.

KAT still got it

But in Game 1 of the NBA Play-In Tournament, McDaniels was out with a broken hand, Gobert was serving a one-game suspension, and Anthony Edwards struggled to score. In the end, it was KAT’s show, once more. And he delivered, at least until foul trouble forced him to the bench.

There was no way to know how Karl-Anthony Towns might handle being ‘The Guy,’ on the Timberwolves roster once more. After all, since returning from a long rehab, Towns has only competed in a handful of games. But he showed up and stole the spotlight for the Minnesota Timberwolves against the Lakers.

The KAT has landed on his feet, as cats always do.
