Player II: PF Kyle Anderson

If there were headlines featuring the Minnesota Timberwolves, point forward Kyle Anderson would have found himself splashing the front page of any and every Minnesota or NBA sports section. Having just completed his ninth NBA season and, for now, his third team, Anderson filled whatever role the oft-battered Timberwolves roster required.

Anderson is another Timberwolves veteran player who is in the midst of his prime NBA playing days. He is a spirited competitor who was signed to the team to fill a specific role. But after arriving, he showcased far more ability that his brochure, leading him to become more than a primary bench player.

In 69 games played, Anderson started 46 contests. Better yet, he outperformed his 2021-22 NBA season and his career average in his first season with the Timberwolves. And he was quite competitive in the NBA Playoffs this season as well, showing up to help keep the Timberwolves competing on both halves of the basketball court.

Just to give an idea of how diverse Kyle Anderson’s role in his first season with the Minnesota Timberwolves has been, let’s explore some of the various roles he was tasked with. He was a frontcourt phenom, as the 6-foot-9 veteran phenom forward was tasked in the role of small forward, power forward, and even as the center in some small ball lineups.

But he was also tasked as the primary ball handler as well, a sort of point forward when the Timberwolves backcourt was injured, DLo wanted out of the PG role, and the team had already enlisted SG Anthony Edwards into that role.

Kyle Anderson is under contract for the 2023-24 NBA season.
