2. Portland Trail Blazers

The Trail Blazers are at a somewhat similar crossroads as the Bulls. They failed to build a competing roster around their franchise player and missed the postseason once again. Lillard has repeatedly said that he would love to stay with the franchise that drafted him, but he is also not interested in a rebuild.

All in all, the Blazers have many needs to address. One of them is that they desperately need bench scoring and reserves that they trust to play serious, impactful minutes. Portland’s bench scored the fewest points this season and played the second-fewest minutes. Reid could be an easy fit for that role. In Minnesota, he has shown that he can impact games as a bench player and in limited minutes. The Blazers could give him plenty of frontcourt minutes behind Jerami Grant and Jusuf Nurkic if Reid were to give them more bench production than any of the players they currently have on the roster.

Reid would not add too much size to a rather small team, but he has enough of a presence as a rebounder and rim protector from the help side to make an impact. The Blazers actually tied with the Brooklyn Nets for the title of the second-worst rebounding team in the league. Reid is not a difference-maker in that category, but in a bigger role, he might still grow into a better rebounder.

At the same time, Reid could offer some shooting that the Blazers’ frontcourt does not really have outside of Grant at the moment. No front-court player other than Grant, who played meaningful minutes, attempted more than three three-pointers per game this season. Reid could give them another offensive layer in their big-man rotation and form a dynamic duo with Grant that would surely be fun to watch.

Now, the downside is that even if the Blazers let some free agents like Drew Eubanks, Kevin Knox, or Justise Winslow walk, it would be difficult to afford any additions not coming from the draft.
