Pack your back, Timberwolves fans! Looks like the Minnesota Timberwolves are taking a road trip. That’s right, and you will never guess the destination. It’s Abu Dhabi, where the Timberwolves will square off against the Dallas Mavericks for two early preseason games.

If you had to point to Abu Dhabi on a map, could you do it? Would you even be on the right continent? Well, buckle up, Minnesota Timberwolves fans, because the Timberwolves have two NBA preseason contests slated to be held at Etihad Arena on Yas Island against the Dallas Mavericks. This is a multi-year collaboration between the NBA and DCT Abu Dhabi that last year saw the Atlanta Hawks and the Milwaukee Bucks play in the Arabian Gulf. The Atlanta Hawks won both contests in 2022.

That is all part of the NBA Abu Dhabi Games 2023, an ongoing effort by the NBA to market the game globally. The games will be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a country to the east of Qatar and in a city that is located southwest of Dubai.

If you plan to attend either or both games, don’t bundle up. The average temperature in October is still robust within a range of 22 to 36 degrees Celsius (76 to 97 degrees Fahrenheit). In terms of an umbrella, there is no rain to speak of in that part of the world in October.

As in any arid hot climate, your best bet is to wear loose, light clothing, especially natural fibers that breathe like linen and light cotton.

If you plan to attend, please be fully aware that Abu Dhabi also has a dress code that is enforced by law enforcement. Ignorance of the law is no defense. Women must cover everything from their shoulders to their knees, but short sleeve shirts are okay. It would be a very wise idea to research all of the do’s and don’ts for that part of the world.
