2023 NBA Draft Timberwolves trial another sextet of rookies
By Bret Stuter
Right on point
There is a lot of interest in Jazian Gortman (Overtime Elite) right now, which could mean that he will hear his name called out before the Minnesota Timberwolves have the chance to name him with their 53rd overall pick. While he is not one of the Thompson twins, and he is not wing Jalen Martin, point guard Jazian Gortman has done enough in his own right to warrant NBA interest:
So what is all of the fuss about?
Well, for starters, Gortman is a 6-foot-2 170-pound point guard who offers enough on offense to be in the NBA Draft discussion, has enough defense to make things interesting, but has an abundance of athleticism and cutpurse savvy to make the draft boards for teams.
Point guard is a position that I expect the Minnesota Timberwolves to be leaning into in the 2023 NBA Draft, and Gortman brings some value in that role. He is a lengthy point guard, a true attribute when it comes to blocking passing lanes and reaching in after an opposing player to steal the basketball.
He is not a finished product by any means. But he does flash enough potential that, if he has an optimal workout, could land him a roster spot on the Timberwolves.
