2023 NBA Draft Timberwolves trial another sextet of rookies

King of the pack?
Finally, the third player focus in this article will be Mojave King (G League Ignite). King is an international player who hails from New Zealand and only started playing competitive basketball in 2018 when he joined Brisbane Capitals of NBL1 North. King has been a rapidly ascending player who stands 6-foot-5 and weighs in at 195 pounds.
He has all of the foundations for an NBA 3-and-D player in his future, but getting him there is the question. How much time will he need to be NBA-ready? Is he ripe for the NBA role now, with playing time on a G-League team? Or does he sparkle as a prime draft-and-stash prospect, who needs time and work in the Euroleague before he makes the big leap into the NBA?
He certainly has the right mindset, that’s for sure.

As you can see, he has some rock-solid moves, great knowledge of spacing, and bright athleticism and shot selection. Most importantly, he is not a finished product. Where the NBA team who selects him feels is the best avenue for his development is uncertain right now.
In terms of what he bring to the Timberwolves in the 2023-24 NBA season? Perhaps player depth today and talent that could very likely fill the Timberwolves’ pipeline for a future role. But his upside is certainly significant. Is that enough to make him the 53rd player selected in the 2023 NBA Draft?
