The Minnesota Timberwolves did not rest and relax after the 2023 NBA Draft. In fact, in many ways, the team’s front office has been burning the midnight oil. The way the workload has been lining up for the Timberwolves front office (after strategizing their 2023-24 NBA season plans) has been to do and execute their 2023 NBA Draft, fill the roster for the Timberwolves Summer League team, and negotiate to re-sign players to the roster.

While we are hopeful that the team is making significant progress on bringing back veteran free agents, this team has a more timely matter at hand, and that is the matter of signing players to compete on the Timberwolves Summer League team.  So far, we have reports of two players to add to the Timberwolves roster for the Summer League. Now, we have a new NBA Rumor of another player signing. This time, the player is Wing Jaylin Galloway

And that means that we have another round of introductions to make, right? So let’s get right to it: 6-foot-6 175-pound Jaylin Galloway is a versatile wing player who can slide to the backcourt as a shooting guard or to the frontcourt to play the small forward role.  He has competed on the Sidney Kings for several years and has the potential to develop into a true 3-and-D given enough coaching support and patience.

While he certainly needs to exhibit more consistency, he has the fearless mindset that is a prerequisite for competing as a successful wing in the NBA.

The Timberwolves have been distributing their roster effectively across all positions on the basketball court so far, but that will quickly change as the team begins to fill out the roster.

2023 Minnesota Timberwolves Summer League roster (as of June 24, 2023, at 9:00 am)

  • Name                            Position     Stats (per game)
  1. Brendan Adams          PG               25.0 M | 8.45 P | 31.3 3P% | 2.74 R | 1.67 A | 0.53 S | 0.11 B
  2. Sam Waardenburg     C                  25.5 M | 6.03 P | 36.9 3P% | 4.25 R | 1.35 A | 0.65 S | 0.85 B
  3. Jaylin Galloway           SG/SF         14.9 M | 5.21 P | 32.7 3P% | 1.78 R | 0.73 A | 0.64 S | 0.24 B

The Timberwolves have a nice assortment of competitors in their Summer League, but the relationship with Galloway is short-term for now. It has been recently reported that the Sydney Kings have extended Jaylin Galloway through their 2025-26 NBL season. That may be for the best because Galloway is 20 years old and is still developing his basketball game. He has a real possibility of becoming significantly skilled on both the offensive and defensive ends on the basketball court.

Galloway is a very popular young player in Australia whose star is rising rapidly. While he may not be making that leap to the NBA soon, he is absolutely a name to watch in the future. Best of all, he will most certainly be on the Timberwolves’ radar in the future.
