The Minnesota Timberwolves roster is bursting with talent.

We’ve previously looked at some players that could have the biggest impact on the Minnesota Timberwolves rotation for the upcoming 2023-24 NBA season, and we can’t talk about impactful members of the roster without mentioning the three highest-paid players on the squad.

Without a doubt, this trio has the most to prove out of anyone in Minnesota, for various different reasons:

  • PF/C Karl-Anthony Towns has to bounce back from his injury-riddled 2022-23 NBA season and prove he can return to his former All-Star form in order to elevate this team’s chances of success. Can he also step up when the NBA Playoffs come around?
  • SG Anthony Edwards is now looked at to be the face of the franchise, and with that title come a lot of responsibilities  Can such a young player fill those basketball shoes? Were those amazing postseason performances enough for Minnesota Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly, the Timberwolves front office, and Timberwolves Head Coach Chris Finch to put all of their chips on the young man out of Georgia?
  • C Rudy Gobert and the whole organization were the laughingstock of the NBA one year ago because the trade for the French center seems very lopsided. That did not change after a full season of not achieving the expectations that were made in the offseason, despite multiple injuries. So can the Frenchman re-write his narrative back into the dominant force he once was?

There are a lot of questions left to be answered throughout these next 82 games of the regular season, as well as some lack-lusting playoff performances that need to be amended. The best way to do that is to get right back onto the horse.

With that being said, let’s evaluate their 2022-23 individual seasons and set some possible scenarios of how they can impact the rotation in the best way possible. As they are the three individual players that are set out to be the highest-paid trio in Minnesota, are they really deserving of so much compensation? Are the Timberwolves getting a good enough return on their investment? Let us dig into the analysis.
