Set your alarms, because you don’t want to sleep on these Timberwolves

What are the Minnesota Timberwolves’ chances of success this year?
Look alive Wolves Nation! The NBA draft has come and gone, and diehards of each fanbase have had their first chance to marvel at their newfound prized prospect. Free agency has largely ground to a halt. The market stands by for the final resolution of the Damian Lillard trade saga, which according to new reports has morphed into the NBA’s take on a will they or won’t they drama. That’s right folks, we have officially entered the offseason dead period.
No need to fret, because the conversation goes on. With only a handful of moves and margin moves remaining to fill out the 30 NBA rosters, the conversation has aimed at the NBA’s 2023-24 King of the Hill iteration.
Powerless in power rankings
Power rankings have begun to surface from news outlets far and wide, but where do your Minnesota Timberwolves stand in the eyes of the national media?
- ESPN clocked us at 16th
- Yahoo Sports was left unimpressed at 21st
- Bleacher Report felt we were exactly average at 15th
- CBS Sports was also left uninspired, placing us at 17th
Talk about a wet towel Wolves fans.
The Timberwolves have certainly not matched the fireworks of the 2022 offseason. What the Wolves did accomplish, was retain important young pieces in backup center Naz Reid and shooting guard Nickiel Alexander-Walker to very amenable contracts and focus on beefing up a bench that lacked consistency and firepower.
Oh, and the team left enough in the piggy bank to extend All-Star shooting guard Anthony Edwards. So that’s something to feel very good about, right? Need more, eh? Okay, let’s look at the moves made by the Timberwolves front office:
