Once all the offseason drama in the NBA has died down, it can feel like a bit of a waiting game until the action starts up again. Basketball podcasts can go a long way toward curing offseason boredom, and more NBA players are in the media sphere than ever before, including one former Minnesota Timberwolves player.

Many Wolves fans are aware of Patrick Beverley’s podcast hosted through Barstool Sports, branded as simply “The Pat Bev Podcast.” Along with his co-host Rone, Beverley talks hoops and frequently brings big name guests on to chat with him. Earlier in the summer, Karl-Anthony Towns joined Pat for an episode.

On Wednesday, another former Timberwolf joined Pat Bev on the podcast in D’Angelo Russell. The two had a lot of interesting stories and perspectives to share about their time in Minnesota, including some behind-the-scenes secrets that may surprise fans.

Pat Bev reveals he was trying to get back to Minnesota

Of course D’Angelo Russell and Patrick Beverley played together for a season with the Timberwolves in 2021-22, but they also have the mutual experience of playing with the Los Angeles Lakers in the past year. When Minnesota traded D’Lo to LA at the trade deadline in February, Beverley was still on the roster as well.

Pat revealed that when Russell became his teammate with the Lakers, he already knew he was going to be traded. He even mentioned that he was “trying to get back to Minnesota,” stating that he wanted to “finish what we started.”

As we know, Pat Bev ultimately ended up with the Chicago Bulls for the remainder of last season. Beverley knew that he and D’Lo would not ultimately play together in LA, but he still took the opportunity to tweet out a picture of him and Russell for fun, with the caption “the gang is back.”
