5 blockbuster trades for Timberwolves to capitalize on Anthony Edwards’ greatness: Paul George
Just like the last deal, this trade is fairly unrealistic, but both sides could benefit from it. And considering the idea of the LA Clippers trading Paul George was briefly floated earlier this offseason, why not throw out an idea with him as the headliner?
The Clippers have been desperately hunting point guard help all summer long, and Mike Conley would give them one, but Karl-Anthony Towns would obviously be the star of this trade.
Towns’ presence down low would give the Clippers’ roster a bit more versatility, as well as improving their overall offense. Plus, he’s under contract for longer than George is.
For Minnesota, this deal would give them one of the most lethal one-two punches in the NBA with George and Anthony Edwards on the wing.
George would not only improve the team’s overall make-up next year, but he’d be the perfect player to mentor Edwards moving forward. Edwards would be able to learn a ton from George.
Terence Mann would step in as a solid guard in Minnesota’s rotation, and until they add another point guard, he could start at the one for them if this trade were to go through.
Potential starting lineups
Timberwolves: Terence Mann, Anthony Edwards, Paul George, Jaden McDaniels, Rudy Gobert
Clippers: Russell Westbrook, Norman Powell, Kawhi Leonard, Nicolas Batum, Karl-Anthony Towns
