Anthony Edwards finally gets respect in Bleacher Report’s Top 100 NBA players list
By Will Eudy
Less than five weeks remain before the Minnesota Timberwolves take the floor for their first preseason game of the 2023-24 season. After a long offseason of work and extra reps with Team USA at the FIBA World Cup, Anthony Edwards will be more prepared than ever.
Coming off a tremendous third pro season in which he took the type of leap many expected, Edwards will look to keep rolling in hopes that he can lead the Wolves to the playoffs for a third straight season. After a year marked by costly injuries in 2022-23, Minnesota will hope to make a push as a true Western Conference contender.
How far the Timberwolves go will largely hinge on how far Anthony Edwards’ immense talent can take them. For some time, it has seemed that Ant Man’s abilities have gone largely unnoticed by major media outlets. But recently, it appears he is finally starting to get some of the recognition he deserves.
Anthony Edwards is finally starting to get his due recognition
As is tradition before every NBA season, many of the large media outlets compile their comprehensive lists of who they believe are the best players in the NBA and release them for fans to react to. Bleacher Report recently put out their Top 100 list of current NBA players for the coming season, and Anthony Edwards ranked 15th on their list.
This is a significant bump from last year, when he was tabbed as the 26th best player in the league ahead of the 2022-23 season. It is safe to say that the makers of B/R’s list were paying attention as Edwards put on a show in Minnesota all year long.
Timberwolves fans have known for years how special Anthony Edwards is, but the fact that the national media is finally starting to catch up is exciting. In the case of a small market team like Minnesota, players simply have to perform well enough that analysts can no longer ignore them, and that is precisely what Edwards has done.
If Ant can continue with his current trajectory, he will be on pace to break into the top 10 of these lists by this time next year.
