There is precious little time left before the Minnesota Timberwolves officially begin preseason. Fans can look forward to seeing how players perform at training camp, with implications of potential roster cuts on the line.

But something else Wolves fans have been looking forward to is the reveal of the team’s final jersey for the 2023-24 season. After Minnesota announced their new city edition jerseys in August, only one set of new uniforms was left unrevealed.

Of course, this was the classic edition jersey. Oftentimes, NBA teams will use this jersey set as an opportunity to pay homage to an older jersey style beloved by fans. With the Timberwolves’ rich history of stylish uniforms, many were excited to see what the organization had in the bag.

One popular thought was that the Wolves would recreate their jerseys from the first era of the team’s history. From 1989 until 1996, Minnesota wore an iconic jersey that can still be spotted by fans at Target Center to this day. According to a new leak, it looks like that is precisely what they decided to do.

The Timberwolves’ classic jersey evokes the beloved 90’s motif

A fan passing by Target Center took this photo that shows new wall decor inside the arena. Along with the Timberwolves’ throwback logo appears to be a photo of Anthony Edwards sporting a modernized version of the classic 90’s jersey.

This all but confirms that Minnesota will be using these uniforms as their classic edition jerseys for the upcoming season. This is a very exciting revelation for every Wolves fan that felt a bit let down by the city edition jersey.

From the look of it, Nike’s adaptation of the classic jersey does not differ much from the original. Of course, the Nike and team sponsor logos were not featured on the original, but the color scheme remains identical. The jersey has a white base with a green outline around the ‘Wolves’ wordmark as well as the number.

On the head and arm holes, more green stripes are surrounded by blue stripes to create ideal contrast. These jerseys look to be some of the highest quality the team has put out in years, and there is little doubt Timberwolves fans will be buying them up very quickly from the team store.
