7. 2022-23 Statement

This jersey is everything the 2017-2022 Statement jersey wishes it was. While the original statement uni of the Nike era was unapologetically itself, the neon green background was a bit too in your face. Some fans liked it, but many more could not stand it.

The updated version of the Timberwolves’ statement jersey released in 2022 is a nice tweak of the original. Whereas the neon green was the primary feature beforehand, it has now taken a backseat to the charcoal gray. To me, this allows the green to shine a bit more.

The solid line above the wordmark mirrors the original statement jersey, and the color around the neckline and shorts is a nice touch as well. This jersey became the first Minnesota uni to feature the full embroidered ‘Timberwolves’ across the chest since the jerseys last worn during the 2007-08 season.

Where the 2017-22 design was loud and obnoxious, the newer Statement jersey has matured a bit and knows more about how to use its talents.

6. 2018-19 Earned

This jersey represents one of the most unique jerseys designs in NBA history. Using the unmistakable purple for the wording and numbers, Minnesota chose to honor the late musical legend Prince, who hailed from Minneapolis.

The purple color and typeface are used as a reference to Prince’s famous 1984 album, “Purple Rain.” While the team only wore this version with the white background for six games, it remains one of the best released during the Nike era.
