5. 2019-20 City

These jerseys were designed to pay homage to the Twin Cities in Minnesota, with the ‘MSP’ lettering standing for ‘Minneapolis’ and ‘Saint Paul.’ The light blue tone of the base color also bears a remarkable resemblance to the blue used by the original Minneapolis Lakers.

In honoring the Twin Cities as well as the history of the franchise, these uniforms are some of the most unique on the list. Light blue has never been in the Timberwolves’ color rotation, but the reference to the original NBA team in Minnesota earns this jersey a spot in the top five.

4. 2018-19 City

This jersey came as a massive surprise to Timberwolves fans. Its release was a such a moment of victory because it ultimately replaced the dull gray jerseys used as the city edition in 2017-18. There could not have been a more massive change for the better by Nike and the Timberwolves.

Once again paying homage to Prince, the jerseys feature bright purple lettering and numbers against a dark purple background. The unique idea behind the design and bold purple color scheme has made it a fan favorite among the Minnesota faithful.

3. 2023-24 Classic

The most recent addition to this list, the classic jerseys the Timberwolves will be wearing in the upcoming season are so impressive that they immediately vaulted into the top three. Once we see how they look in live game action, they could potentially climb even higher.

For now, though, they earn this ambitiously high ranking due to how much justice they do the Wolves’ original jerseys from the early 90s. The only critique I would have of this jersey is that the wordmark and numbers are a touch smaller than the original.

But besides that, they do an incredible job of bringing back the magic of the formative days of Timberwolves basketball. Much like the 2018-19 classics, these are an excellent throwback that did not need re-imagining or tweaking.
