Ranking all 14 Timberwolves jerseys of the Nike era

2. 2018-19 Classic
This one nearly claimed the top spot on the list purely off nostalgia. This jersey is a near-carbon copy of the Timberwolves’ alternate uniforms worn from 1997-98 until 2007-08, and it is an all-time fan favorite.
For good reason, too. The jet black base with the jagged letters spelling out ‘Timberwolves’ and surrounded by green tree trim is possibly the most iconic look for the franchise. Bringing it back without any major alterations for the 2018-19 season was a massive win for the organization.
Fans who have been following the team long enough will undoubtedly see this design and think of Minnesota’s run to the Western Conference Finals in 2004. Jerseys like this are what happens when a team with a rich history of impressive uniforms listens to its fanbase and allows a beloved classic to make a comeback.
1. 2021-22 City
Let’s call it what it is: these are hands down the best jersey Minnesota has produced in the Nike era. The Timberwolves did not have to go this hard with the 2021-22 city edition jerseys. And yet, they did.
A unique blend of retro and modern, this jersey is an all-timer. What sticks out to many Wolves fans right away is the green tree trim. However, this is a noticeably lighter tone than what was used on the 2018-19 classics.
The combination of the lighter green and the brighter blue makes for a visually stunning jersey. On the back, the jersey transitions to a deeper shade of blue that provides a nice contrast. On the sides of the shorts, the Timberwolves’ primary logo from the early 90s is proudly displayed.
It will be very hard for the team to top these jerseys any time soon. The Timberwolves set an extremely high bar when these were released. In fact, some fans have even floated the idea of making this style the new permanent Icon and Association jerseys.
