After being selected first overall in the 2020 NBA Draft, Anthony Edwards quickly became one of the top scorers in the NBA. Now in his sixth season, the now 24-year-old has upped his scoring average every year since he joined the league (19.3 points as a rookie, currently at 29.3 in 2025-26).
Where Edwards has shown the most growth over his six years is with his 3-point shot. Over the last two years in particular, he has become one of the better shooters from beyond the arc, even as he has increased his volume.
Edwards ties Steph
For the second straight game on Tuesday, the Minnesota Timberwolves won in convincing fashion. They beat the Miami Heat 122-94, and Edwards led all scorers with 26 points.
For the evening, Ant-Man connected on 5 of his 8 3-point tries. That marks the 12th time this season that Edwards has made at least five attempts from beyond the arc. He also had 29 outings last year in which he did so. That gives him 41 instances of at least five made 3-pointers since the beginning of the 2024-25 season.
That is tied for the most over that stretch with Stephen Curry, the player who universally is seen as the best shooter in NBA history. The four-time NBA champion has done it 13 times this season and 28 times in 2024-25.
Tonight marks Edwards 41st game with at least five made threes since the start of the 2024-25 season.

That is tied with Stephen Curry for the most such games in the NBA during that span. https://t.co/27s15wpeLu
Clear area of growth since he joined the league
With 12 games of at least five 3-pointers through Minnesota’s first 37 outings, Edwards is on pace to have 27 games of doing so by the time the regular season concludes. These past two seasons have shown the growth in Edwards’ 3-point shot and how he makes them a lot more frequently.
In his first 4 seasons, this is the amount of games that Edwards made at least five from deep:
2020-21: 8
2021-22: 15
2022-23: 10
2023-24: 10
Last season, Edwards led the NBA with 320 made 3-pointers. That is the seventh-most ever in a year, only behind five seasons from Curry and one from James Harden.
He’s not on track to hit that many this season, but Edwards’ 40.7 percent 3-point accuracy would be a career-best, slightly higher than last season when he made 39.5 percent. While Edwards was someone that defenses certainly had to respect over his first four seasons from outside, he combined to shoot 35.3 percent from 3-point distance during that time.
Before he is even 25 years old (doesn’t turn 25 until the offseason), Edwards has already made 1,210 3-pointers. Curry is going to make the career record a near impossibility to reach, but Ant should be high up the leaderboard when he calls it a career years from now.
