The past two playoffs have proven that you can never count out Anthony Edwards and that he is on an all-time great trajectory. He has been the engine of a team that has unexpectedly made back-to-back Western Conference finals. What's more impressive is that Ant has taken down some all-time legends, including Kevin Durant (in four games), Nikola Jokic, LeBron James, and Luka Doncic.
For two years in a row, Ant and the Minnesota Timberwolves are the sixth seed, and people are writing them off in the first-round. It will undoubtedly be a tall task, but if Ant can lead the Wolves to another upset, his reputation as an elite playoff riser and giant slayer will further grow.
When you consider that Edwards is dealing with a knee injury, a possible upset over the surging Nuggets would be even more impressive.
Upsetting the Nuggets would be Ant's biggest accomplishment yet
If the Wolves hypothetically upset the Nuggets, it would be Ant's most remarkable feat yet. Yes, sweeping the Durant and the Phoenix Suns was a surprise and a great accomplishment, but the Wolves were the No. 3 seed while the Suns were the No. 6 seed. Beating the defending champion Nuggets in the following series was surprising, but just one seed separated the two squads.
Dismantling the Lakers in five games when most pundits picked LA last year was an amazing accomplishment. Nevertheless, the Lakers didn't have much time together after trading for Luka, and their defense had more holes than Swiss cheese.
Beating the Nuggets, who are on a 12-game winning streak and have the best player in the world, simply feels like a different monster. This is especially the case when considering that the Wolves are just 10-10 in their past 20 games, unlike last year when the Wolves were 16-4 in the 20 games leading up to the playoffs.
Frankly, it feels like the deck is stacked against the Wolves, and another deep playoff run is a true long shot. However, as we've learned with Anthony Edwards on your team, you always have a chance.
Beyond Ant's elite playoff track record, the Nuggets' lack of a natural matchup for him makes an upset possible.
Even if the Wolves don't make it back to the conference finals, an upset over the Nuggets would be a huge boon to Edwards' already stellar playoff reputation. If Ant-Man does the improbable, it could boost his long-term legacy.
Whatever happens in the first-round, Ant's playoff résumé before the age of 25 is truly absurd, and if you have faith in the Wolves, it likely centers around Edwards.
