As the Minnesota Timberwolves attempt to build out their roster around Anthony Edwards this summer, they should keep their eyes on one team in particular: The Oklahoma City Thunder. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the leader, and very much untouchable, but a bunch of his supporting cast members may be gettable.

OKC could look to shed some significant salary this summer, meaning some of the pieces over there could potentially be available in trades. And if players are available, the Wolves should absolutely be interested, because the Thunder have plenty of guys who could help out Minnesota going forward. The Wolves should absolutely try to steal from SGA’s supporting cast.

The Thunder have an abundance of riches.

Anthony Edwards should ask Timberwolves to make trade with Thunder this summer

Again, SGA isn’t going anywhere. He’s truly untouchable. But in theory, everyone else on the Thunder could potentially be added for the right price.

In the case of the Wolves, Jalen Williams probably isn’t gettable, based on the pieces Minnesota is theoretically willing to trade. The same goes for Chet Holmgren, despite his poor playoff showing.

Alex Caruso, Isaiah Hartenstein, and Lu Dort will all also be back in OKC next season, for varying reasons, which means the Wolves probably couldn’t trade for them, either.

But after that, things get interesting. Because a lot of the depth pieces in OKC could be available on the trade market this summer, depending on how much money the Thunder want to get off their books this summer.

Jaylin Williams could be a great depth piece for the Wolves to target, especially if they end up trading Rudy Gobert in a different trade this summer. His shooting and interior defense would be very valuable.

Cason Wallace could be another potential target. He didn’t seem too keen on linking himself to the Thunder for the future during his post-game press conference after Game 7 of the Western Conference finals.

Evan guys like Isaiah Joe and Aaron Wiggins could be useful bench pieces for the Wolves next season, if they were able to strike a deal with the Thunder.

Regardless, there are plenty of depth pieces in OKC, all supporting SGA, who could be viable trade targets for the Wolves. They should get on the phones as soon as possible, especially since the Thunder have already been eliminated from the playoffs.

SGA has a great team behind him in OKC. The Thunder are extremely well built. But they may have to shed salary this summer.

And the Wolves should try to see who they could steal away.
