Every year, debates rage on about player ratings for the video game series NBA 2K. It’s not even just the fans and people who play the game who believe their favorite player was unfairly rated, as many of the actual NBA players share that they also feel their rating is disrespectful.
With NBA 2K26 scheduled for release on September 5, they shared their top 10 player rankings for the video game. Anthony Edwards’ rating should make most Timberwolves fans happy, as he has the fifth-best overall rating in this year’s game.
Edwards receives a 95 overall rating
At the age of just 24, Edwards has already become one of the true superstars of the league. NBA 2K certainly has taken notice, as evidenced by his 95 overall rating.

The only four players ahead of Edwards are certainly household names for fans of the sport. They are Nikola Jokic (98), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (98), Giannis Antetokounmpo (97), and Luka Doncic (95). While Doncic has the same overall as Edwards, the former is probably decimal points ahead for fourth. Coming in at sixth through 10th in order are Stephen Curry (94), LeBron James (94), Jayson Tatum (94), Victor Wembanyama (94), and Kevin Durant (93).
Edwards is the second-youngest player to make the top ten, only older than Wembanyama. As someone who has finished tied for seventh and seventh in MVP voting the last two seasons while making the All-NBA second team both times, fifth seems like a fair placement for the 2020 first overall pick.
Improvement from his 2K25 launch rating
The 95 overall rating for Edwards is a two-point increase from the 93 he had when NBA 2K25 was released. That put him just outside of the top 10 in 11th.
The Timberwolves surely hope that Edwards can be considered a top-five player for the 2025-26 season. Each of the last 21 NBA champions has rostered a player who either made first team All-NBA that season, or recently before that year. The last team to win it all without one is the 2004 Pistons. With All-NBA teams now positionless, a top-five player would make the All-NBA first team.
In the meantime, fans will get to dominate with Edwards like few other players are capable of in NBA 2K26 for over a month until they get to see the real Edwards do it on the court once the regular season begins. Perhaps a fast start by the team could even see Edwards receive a higher rating once player updates occur.
