I think every Minnesota Timberwolves fan knows how valuable Jaden McDaniels is. Yet I don't think this is as well-known as it should be around the league. After winning the All-Star Game MVP, Anthony Edwards made sure that McDaniels got some love. When asked, one player that casual fans need to circle as the key to the Wolves winning a championship, without hesitation, Ant said McDaniels.

"My favorite player, Jaden McDaniels," Edwards said. "When y'all see Minnesota lock in on number 3. Don't watch number 5, watch number 3."

On numerous occasions, Edwards has referred to McDaniels as his favorite player in the league, and seeing him uplift his career teammate on a national stage was awesome. And as Edwards noted, McDaniels will be a crucial part of the Wolves' ability to make a title run.

Jaden McDaniels is a key part of the Timberwolves' championship aspirations

There's reason to be skeptical of the Wolves' title chances -- I won't argue that. However, there's no denying that McDaniels' offensive growth is one clear reason to believe in the Wolves as true title contenders. McDaniels has long been one of the best defenders, but his offense has traditionally been inconsistent.

This year, he has blossomed into a 15-point-per-game scorer, with stellar 51.9/45.4/84.4 shooting splits. According to Basketball Index, McDaniels has increased from the 3rd to the 97th percentile for 3-point shot making efficiency.

Having an efficient and consistent third option is an element the Wolves simply didn't have in past years. Considering they've already made two straight conference finals despite this flaw, it's fair to suggest that McDaniels' leap could be the difference maker in Minnesota's title chances.

On top of this, McDaniels remains one of the league's premier defenders. He can take opposing star guards and wings out of games with his elite on-ball defense. Plus, the 6-foot-9 forward has impressive versatility as a rim protector. Notably, he ranks in the 98th percentile for perimeter isolation defense and the 92nd percentile for rim disruption according to Basketball Index.

Nothing is guaranteed, and it's possible the Wolves are an early playoff exit. However, if the Wolves do make a surprise finals run, McDaniels will certainly be a key part of this.

Everyone knows about Edwards' greatness, but I don't think enough general fans are aware of McDaniels' immense all-around impact. Likewise, of course, stars are crucial, but oftentimes, complementary players swing playoff series.

Hopefully, Edwards' comments give McDaniels some more national attention because he absolutely deserves it.
