The Minnesota Timberwolves picked up a victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night, winning 125-110. This may seem like it was an ordinary win over a subpar opponent, but it was another sign of growing maturity for this Wolves team. Playing their fifth game in seven nights and on the second night of a back-to-back, it would have been easy to let the importance of this game fall by the wayside.

After taking down the Philadelphia 76ers at Target Center on Tuesday evening, the Timberwolves did not arrive in Charlotte until 5:00 AM Wednesday. Fatigue was clearly a factor, but this group put together a solid performance and came out with a win that they needed.

Following the game, Anthony Edwards spoke with media in the locker room. When asked about Terrence Shannon Jr.'s contributions, Ant spoke on his favorite thing about the rookie. "He's a dawg, man," Edwards said. "We'll be playing 1s, he'll be busting my butt. He's tough to guard. He's a straight line driver, and he loves contact. You don't run into too many basketball players that don't shy away from contact, so that's what I love about him."

Edwards loves that Shannon embraces contact

We see that Edwards' words are true every time Shannon steps on the court. In Charlotte on Wednesday, Terrence got just 13 minutes, but he played with that same brand of physicality Ant spoke of. Sometimes his speed and strength is simply shocking, especially for a rookie.

It is far from surprising that Edwards feels this way about his rookie teammate. Coming up as a football player in his youth, Ant has always enjoyed the physicality of playing basketball as well. He likely feels a connection with Shannon just based on their shared love for physical styles on the hardwood.

Also of note is Edwards' comment of Terrence "busting my butt" while playing against each other in practice. We all know that iron sharpens iron, and Shannon's game will only continue to grow the more time he spends working with Ant.
