Over the last half-decade, there has been many a talented role player to don the Minnesota Timberwolves uniform. As the Wolves have slowly progressed into becoming a full-fledged title contender in the Western Conference, some of those role players have hung around to the present day, but many more have moved on.
For Timberwolves fans that were around before last season, it is hard to forget the contributions of one Taurean Prince. The three-and-D wing played just two years in Minnesota, but he was a fiery competitor and left his own unique mark on the minds of the fanbase with his play from 2021 until 2023.
Sure, he had his struggles like everyone does, but his highs were positively roof-raising. Who could forget Prince's career night at Madison Square Garden in March 2023 where he torched the Knicks for 35 points and an incredible eight made threes, while not missing a single shot from beyond the arc?
It is nights like those that are burned into the memories of die-hard Timberwolves fans forever. One day a decade from now, friends will be sitting around naming random sports figures and Prince's name will be brought up simply because of how much joy he brought the fanbase in that single regular season game. And in the meantime, another team is seeing just how big Taurean's impact can be.
Bucks fans are seeing how impactful Taurean Prince can be
After he departed Minnesota in the 2023 offseason, Prince spent a year with the Los Angeles Lakers before signing with the Milwaukee Bucks on a minimum contract this past summer. His impact in Los Angeles was mostly comparable to what he accomplished in the Twin Cities, but he has been having one of the best seasons of his career while playing alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee.
I say that purely because of his unmatched efficiency from behind the three-point line this season. Prince has made 51.6% of his threes through 25 games in a Bucks uniform. Yes, you read that correctly. He has been absolute nails for Doc Rivers' squad and has played a big part in helping the team recover from its subpar start to the season.
On Tuesday night, Prince nailed two more three-pointers to help Milwaukee take down the Oklahoma City Thunder and secure the NBA Cup title. Many Bucks fans are sure to be thrilled and perhaps even surprised at Prince's high-level play, but Timberwolves fans are probably just sitting back with a smile on their faces. This is the Taurean Prince they know and love. Seeing his talent shine, even with another team, is a heart-warming feeling.
