While the Minnesota Timberwolves are in their offseason, it’s been a busy one already, highlighted by acquiring star point guard LaMelo Ball. Some fans still want to get their fix of watching actual basketball, though, and they can currently do so by tuning into the WNBA or the BIG3.

The BIG3 recently began play for the 2026 season on June 20. There are seven former Timberwolves who are rostered in the league this year across the eight teams. Here’s a look at the three that spent the most time with the Wolves.

(Also playing in the BIG3 this year are four other guys who spent a very brief time with the Timberwolves: Greg Monroe (Dallas Power), James Johnson (DMV Trilogy), Kosta Koufos (LA Riot), and Lance Stephenson (Miami 305).)

Wesley Johnson (Chicago Triplets)

Unfortunately, fans don’t necessarily have many fond thoughts when it comes to Johnson. The Wolves selected him with the fourth overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, and he didn't pan out.

Johnson lasted just two years with the team before he was dealt away to the Phoenix Suns. He was mostly utilized as a starter with Minnesota, but it didn’t go very well, as he shot less than 40 percent from the field both years. Johnson is known as one of the worst draft picks in Timberwolves history.

Corey Brewer (Detroit Amps)

Another lottery draft pick by the Timberwolves, Brewer was taken seventh overall in the 2007 NBA Draft. He spent his first three seasons with Minnesota, was traded during his fourth (to the Dallas Mavericks, where he won a championship), then began a second tenure with the Wolves three years later.

On April 11, 2014, Brewer scored 51 points for the Timberwolves in a game against the Houston Rockets, becoming 1 of the more surprising players ever to drop 50-plus in a game. Altogether, he played in 819 regular season contests, and Brewer never scored more than 29 in any of the other 818.

Michael Beasley (Miami 305)

Beasley has not only been named MVP of the BIG3 in each of the last two years, he also helped guide the Miami 305 to a championship last season. Prior to being a superstar in Ice Cube’s league, he was a bucket-getter in the NBA.

The second overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft played his third and fourth seasons with the Wolves. In 2010-11, Beasley averaged a career-best 19.2 points with Minnesota.
