The NBA trade deadline is just a little over 48 hours away. While the Luka Doncic trade has turned the landscape upside down and made it seem like anyone can get dealt at any time, it still seems there's a bit more to that situation than meets the eye. So with that in mind plus what we already know about their situation, it does not seem the Minnesota Timberwolves are on the precipice of some big trade.

But that could always change, and the latest trade rumor may increase the chances that the Wolves are active ahead of the deadline. According to Bleacher Report's Jake Fischer, the Phoenix Suns have been fielding calls about potentially moving Kevin Durant.

Fischer writes (subscription required): "Phoenix, entering Monday's business, continued to signal that it does not plan to move Durant before the deadline, sources said, but the Suns are believed to be listening at the very least to various teams' pitches for the 35-year-old scoring legend. Durant, meanwhile, is said to be aware of all this.”

Timberwolves can use this opportunity to craft Durant proposal

There has been no indication from Minnesota's side of things that they would be interested in adding Kevin Durant to their roster. But even at his current age, getting to add a player like KD is exciting enough that it's possible they may want to take a look at it.

Again, as Fischer states, it does not seem that the Suns are intent on moving Durant. They are likely just using this time to test the waters and seeing what kind of return they could potentially get. So the odds he gets traded at all still feel low.

On top of that, the Timberwolves and especially Chris Finch have been very intentional about expressing their belief in the team's current roster and have gone out of their way to do so. It seems they want to ride out the rest of the season with Julius Randle and continue figuring things out internally.

With that in mind, we all saw the banter between Durant and Anthony Edwards last year during the playoffs. Ant has stated that KD is his favorite player ever. There would be some obvious reasons to pursue a trade here.
