NBA sends an Anthony Edwards message that fans can't ignore with schedule release

The Timberwolves have 28 games on national television, and Anthony Edwards is a large reason for that.

For many years, the Minnesota Timberwolves receiving plenty of national television outings was laughable. That was particularly true in the years prior to, and the few years after, the Kevin Garnett era.

Now that the team has been one of the final four teams standing the last two years, and has one of the true stars in Anthony Edwards, that is no longer the case. Thursday’s schedule release shows that NBA fans will get plenty of Timberwolves exposure, even if they don’t live in the Minnesota area.

The Wolves have 28 games on National TV

With the release of the 2025-26 NBA schedule, we also know what games will be available to the national audience. The Timberwolves have plenty.

They will have 28 nationally televised games. That is tied for the fifth-most with the Rockets. Four teams are tied for the top spot with 34. They are the Thunder, Lakers, Warriors, and Knicks.

Breakdown by network

Here is a breakdown of how many games on each network that the Timberwolves will have:

  • ESPN - 7
  • Amazon Prime - 7
  • NBC - 6
  • ABC - 4
  • Peacock - 4

The NBC games will also be available on Peacock. The Christmas Day game against the Nuggets will also air on ESPN as well as ABC.

The first of the nationally televised games is their second outing of the season. That takes place on Amazon Prime when they go on the road to take on the Lakers on October 24.

Soon after, they head on the road to take on the Knicks. That game will occur on November 5 and will air on ESPN. Many eyes will be tuned into that contest due to people still debating who won the Karl-Anthony Towns/Julius Randle trade that the two teams were involved in last October.

The Timberwolves' first opportunity to avenge their conference finals loss to the Thunder last season will be on November 26. That game will air on ESPN and will be a road affair for Minnesota. The other three games against OKC will be on December 19 (Amazon Prime), January 29 (Amazon Prime), and March 15 (ABC).

Ant-Man gives the Wolves a player they haven't often had

Let’s be honest, a large reason that the Timberwolves are in the national spotlight is Edwards. He has become a household name and a player the NBA can capitalize on for some time, as he is just 24 years old.

Minnesota certainly hasn’t had many players of his stature. As good as Karl-Anthony Towns and Kevin Love had been for the team, they didn’t match the star power of the Ant-Man. The only one who was at Edwards’ level is the franchise GOAT, Kevin Garnett.
