Monday afternoon marked a historic date in the history of the Minnesota Timberwolves, as Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore were officially named the new owners of the franchise after the conclusion of the arbitration hearings concerning the purchase of the team. As soon as the NBA's Board of Governors approves the move, Minnesota's new ownership group will be in place.

There were mixed feelings about Glen Taylor from the Wolves' fanbase. While he was probably a bit over-hated by many, he certainly was not a flawless owner. Several questionable decisions made by Taylor over the years led to fans wondering if and when he would allow someone else to take over the team. Now, we have arrived in that reality.

Taylor was certainly a bit old-fashioned when it came to his ownership style, but now some needed changes can perhaps take place within the Timberwolves organization. One of the changes many fans would probably like to see is a uniform rebrand.

A uniform rebrand could be in store for the Timberwolves

That could very much be a possibility with Rodriguez and Lore's leadership in place. The Timberwolves have always been known to have some of the most stylish and unique uniform designs in the history of the NBA, and the fact that they have under-utilized their brand power in recent years has been very evident to the Minnesota faithful.

There have been some wins, for certain. Last season's classic edition jerseys that paid tribute to the original Wolves uniforms from the early 1990s were a massive hit. Two seasons before that, the city edition jersey (pictured above) that brought together elements from multiple eras of Timberwolves basketball were some of the most impressive-looking in the entire association to many.

In the 2018-19 season, the black alternates from the Kevin Garnett days were brought back, much to the delight of Wolves fans. The classic design with the old-school 'Timberwolves' lettering and the green tree trim simply cannot be beaten. It may finally be time to incorporate some of these beloved styles into a new standard jersey set for the Timberwolves to use going forward.

Minnesota's current Icon and Association jerseys were introduced during the 2017-18 season, and according to the team's contract with Nike, have to be used through a certain season. But when that time is up (and it should be relatively shortly), the Timberwolves can focus on making their entire jersey selection stunning once again. Doing so will only increase passion among the already dedicated fanbase.
