Minnesota Timberwolves fans are well aware that much has been made of Anthony Edwards and Kevin Durant's friendship. Over the course of this past season and then the summer Olympics as well, KD and Ant seem to have bonded, and outsiders have taken notice.

From them going it at with trash talk in the playoffs to playing alongside each other on Team USA and developing a personal handshake with each other, it is clear that they enjoy hanging out around each other. That has led many to speculate: could Anthony Edwards be working on recruiting KD to join the Timberwolves?

It is a question that will be hard for us to ever have a true concrete answer to unless Durant actually does make a move to Minnesota one day soon. Recently, 10-time All-Star Carmelo Anthony went on the 7 PM in Brooklyn podcast to weigh in and give his own thoughts on the situation.

Carmelo Anthony weighed in on the KD to Minnesota talk

"I hate hypotheticals. Do I think it would ever happen? Maybe," said Anthony. "KD, his last couple years, he'll see an opportunity where he can go and help somebody like Ant. That's a possibility, but I don't think them being cool and hanging out is like they talking about teaming up.

"Athletes don't have time. They don't be wanting to worry about a bunch of s---. Athletes just get comfortable with their environment and who they are around and people that can relate to what they can relate to and speak the same language that they speak. That's why you see athletes with athletes. Because it's the same language."

This is likely the closest assessment to the truth that anyone has given. There could be some type of desire to play in Minnesota for Durant, but the more likely scenario is that he has simply enjoyed spending time around his friend who is similar to him in a lot of ways.

It certainly makes sense that the two have bonded over a love for basketball. We as humans tend to gravitate toward those who live similar lives and go through similar experiences as we do because, as Carmelo explains, those kinds of people are speaking the same language to each other. Time will tell if there is anything more to this connection than meets the eye.
