6 Potential Timberwolves free agent targets with ties to Anthony Edwards

2. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Another player who is a fellow University of Georgia basketball alumni is Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. The high-level three-and-D wing will have a player option with the Denver Nuggets, and it is possible he could decline his option to pursue more money with another team. It would of course be a massive blow for the Nuggets given all he has accomplished in the Mile High City, but his services would be much appreciated on a team like the Timberwolves.
Beginning his career with the Detroit Pistons, Caldwell-Pope was initially miscast as a player who could not contribute to winning basketball early in his career. This is a relatively common occurrence for players who hide away on bad teams, and their talents are not as visible as the role players and stars on playoff teams. But everything changed for KCP when he joined the Lakers in 2017.
Playing in Los Angeles for four seasons, Caldwell-Pope helped the Lake Show to their first NBA championship in a decade back in 2020. His perimeter skills were a massive piece to the Lakers' depth, and he was wrongfully cast aside by them a season later. Since then, he has helped elevate the Nuggets to the level of one of the best all-around teams in the league as well. Everyone in Minnesota would likely welcome his skills and leadership.
