Minnesota Timberwolves fans and everyone who calls themselves a basketball enthusiast have been anxiously awaiting the release of NBA 2K25. The most widely-known NBA video game is set to release its newest version in the first week of September, leaving hoops fans and video game enthusiasts alike in anticipation of everything the game has to offer.

Every year when the game is updated, fans are waiting to see the updated ratings for each player in the association. For those unfamiliar with how 2K works, the game developers assign every player on each team a numerical value (between 0-100) that determines their overall usefulness within the context of gameplay. The numbers, referred to as player ratings, are updated every year to ensure the game is as realistic as possible.

Here, we will take a look at how 2K rated each Timberwolves player for 2K25 as well as evaluate how accurate players' key attributes are in the game.

Notable changes from NBA 2K24

Several Timberwolves players saw big changes in their overall rating compared to last year's version of the game. The most notable of which being Anthony Edwards, who rose seven percentage points to an incredible 95 overall after Minnesota's spectacular 2023-24 season.

Karl-Anthony Towns and Nickeil Alexander-Walker's ratings both jumped three points, while Mike Conley, Naz Reid and Luka Garza each saw a two-point bump compared to NBA 2K24. The only rostered Timberwolves player from this past season that saw a rating decrease was Jaden McDaniels, who dropped by one point.

Individual player ratings

Star players

Anthony Edwards (SG/SF)

Rated as an 88 in 2K headed into this past season, Edwards got the biggest bump of any Timberwolves player after their wildly successful season last year. Only eight players in the entire game have a higher overall rating than him. The three players to also earn 95s alongside Ant are Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis and Devin Booker.

Edwards earned a 92 rating in the outside scoring category, including 98s in shot IQ and offensive consistency. The game developers clearly took into account all that he added to his offensive repertoire over the course of the last 12 months. Defensively, he has an 83 rating in perimeter defense and an 85 in defensive consistency.

Karl-Anthony Towns (PF/C)

Making a nice rebound with his overall rating in 2K25 is Karl-Anthony Towns. The big man saw a significant drop after the 2022-23 season to an 85 overall, his lowest rating since his rookie year. But after a nice bounce-back year on the hardwood, the game developers gave him his respect with a new 88 overall mark.

Outside scoring is easily KAT's most useful attribute within the game. He earned a 90 or above in close shot, free throw and offensive consistency, making him a very viable force as a mid-to-long-range scorer. Playmaking and defending remain his weakest attributes with 66 and 58 ratings respectively, but he makes up for it with solid potential (88 rating) and intangibles (95 rating).
