A trade the magnitude of the one the Minnesota Timberwolves pulled off last Friday can be pretty shocking for those involved. A last-minute move in the offseason that came just a few days before media day and training camp was life-altering for Karl-Anthony Towns, Julius Randle and everyone else in the equation.
That includes the families of the players as well. Many fans will forget about the consequences of a deal like this for a player's wife, girlfriend or any children involved. Uprooting one's personal life to move halfway across the country with no advance notice is no small matter for anyone.
After the trade went down, Julius Randle's wife Kendra took to social media to explain in detail how the whole situation has been affecting her. In a TikTok video, Kendra shared her somewhat surprising reaction to leaving New York and moving her and Julius' life to Minnesota.
"I'm not going to lie. When we heard Minnesota, it was pretty shocking," Kendra said. "Although we were so ready to leave New York. Living in a condo with two kids is so hard, I don't care what anyone says. It was a great experience, but we were already looking to move outside of the city. It was just getting so hard and overwhelming for us."
Kendra Randle is excited to be living in Minnesota
Many would probably think that living in New York would be a thrilling experience, and certainly there are some big advantages to it if you are a city person. But it is far from surprising to hear that Julius and his wife were beginning to feel tired of the hustle and bustle of the big city.
Kendra reiterated that her and Julius were shocked to hear Minnesota was their destination, but she also revealed that they were pleasantly surprised at their new home upon arrival. "When we got here, we were driving around, and I'm like, 'these neighborhoods are gorgeous,' like, we love it. It's so beautiful, the people are so nice. There's so many nice restaurants, it's just things that you wouldn't know."
Lifelong Minnesotans are probably reading this with a smile and nodding their heads. Outsiders may be wary of a place that has a reputation of being so frigid in the winter, but many locals love Minnesota with a passion regardless. "I know it gets cold, but it's cold in New York too," said Kendra. "And I've heard they make the most of the snow here. So we're really excited for a new switch up, a new chapter for our family."
Timberwolves fans can rest assured that Julius and his family are already settling into their new home rather nicely. It seems that the entire Randle family is more than happy to now be in the Twin Cities full-time.
