The Minnesota Timberwolves continue to have a bright future. After Tim Connelly came in and made the blockbuster trade for Rudy Gobert two years ago, outsiders were ready to call this team a failure and cast them to the side as non-contenders.

But after year two of the Gobert experiment, it became clear that the doubters were wrong. Not just about Rudy, but about this Wolves team as a whole. Minnesota is clearly a Western Conference juggernaut, and they look to head into next season with a similar roster to the one that won them 56 games in 2023-24.

As they do that, nearly all indicators are that they will run back their current core, minus only Kyle Anderson, who the team was unable to retain in free agency. But even so, there are still distant rumors of a rival team being interested in trying to pull off a blockbuster trade with the Timberwolves.

The Knicks are rumored to be interested in Karl-Anthony Towns

Stop me if you've heard this before, but according to one Knicks figure, New York is still interested in Karl-Anthony Towns. Many Timberwolves fans will hear this and likely let out an audible groan, as it is far from the first time we have heard rumors regarding KAT and the Knicks.

According to Casey Powell, host of KnicksFanTV and better known as "CP The Fanchise," the Knicks are fans of Karl-Anthony Towns, and bigger fans of KAT than they are of their current big man, Julius Randle. Powell suspects this could be the reason New York is still yet to ink Randle to an extension.

Of course, this is not an official report and Powell is not a confirmed insider. But rumors like this start drumming up questions of what other teams are planning. If the Knicks truly want to throw the kitchen sink at Minnesota for Towns, it certainly confirms how highly-regarded he is around the association.

In any event, it feels unlikely that the Timberwolves would part with KAT under any circumstance. Management has made it clear they want to run things back with this group, and unless an offer is made that the front office can not resist, we should expect to see Towns in a Wolves uniform again this fall.
