Just a little over two months remain before the Minnesota Timberwolves will be gearing up for their first preseason games ahead of the 2024-25 season. Training camp is even sooner, and the NBA's full schedule is set to be released any day now.

It is safe to say that next season is no longer so far off, and the Timberwolves largely have their roster set and ready to go. They have made all the big additions they were planning on making, and now the focus will simply be on continued internal improvement.

At the same time, Tim Connelly and the front office could still be looking to make a small upgrade or two in the margins. That is evidenced by Friday's report that the team has expressed interest in signing Marcus Morris.

Minnesota has shown interest in Marcus Morris

Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Minnesota is one of several teams that are pursuing signing the veteran power forward (subscription required). According to Pompey, the other teams include the Philadelphia 76ers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Charlotte Hornets, Detroit Pistons, Miami Heat and New Orleans Pelicans.

At 34 years old (35 next month), Morris is a tad older than when he was a mainstay in playoff rotations for teams like the Boston Celtics and LA Clippers. That said, he could still be a valuable contributor in Minnesota.

Bringing Marcus off the bench for 15 or 20 minutes a night to provide tough-nosed defense and spot-up shooting would be far from the worst move the Timberwolves could make at this point in the offseason. Add in the fact that he would likely be playing on a minimum deal, and it may be a no-brainer.
