Everyone, even casual observers of the NBA, have become aware of how transcendent Anthony Edwards' talent is. Leading the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Western Conference Finals in his fourth professional season, Ant even further cemented his place among the best young players in the league this past NBA season.

But the biggest indicator of Edwards' notoriety is the fact that his impact is already being felt far outside the lines on the basketball court. He has become a cultural figure that people know and identify with, and his big signature shoe reveal last fall was a perfect example of that.

Now, new information has been revealed that is even more evidence to how far Edwards is climbing in the realm of cultural relevance. According to top NBA insider Shams Charania, Ant will be "a major star of the new NBA show on Netflix set to release in the fall, according to industry sources (subscription required)."

Edwards will star in Netflix's new NBA show

This comes on the heels of Edwards' new contract extension with Adidas that will pay him over eight figures annually. Shams reports that Ant is "expected to be the breakaway act" of what will be the first documentary series about the NBA produced by Netflix. The show will also feature the likes of LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, Jimmy Butler and Domantas Sabonis.

With names like that operating alongside him, it is clear that Edwards is already in rare air when it comes to big-name star power. He may not have the trophy case of LeBron James. But the more time goes on, it is becoming clear that he is on a trajectory to become every bit as much of a household name as number 23.

Many American basketball fans gravitate toward cheering for US-born superstars, and Edwards is quickly becoming one of the biggest American-born stars in the association. News like this will only become more commonplace as his game continues to grow and he keeps elevating in the ranks of best players in the NBA.
